1- “Gujarat Anti-Terror Bill” passed by It’s State Assembly. The Gujarat government on Tuesday passed a historic Bill which aims at curbing terrorist activities the new Bill is said to be a filtered version of Gujarat Control of Organised Crime Bill (GUJCOC), 2003,GUJCOC was returned twice to the State legislature in 2004 and 2008 by then Presidents A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Pratibha Patil respectively
Key points of the Bill:-
  • The Bill makes “evidence collected through the interception of wire, electronic or oral communication” admissible in the court.
  • The legislation makes offences under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime Act, 2015, non-bailable. Clause 20 (4) of the Bill states.
  • It provides immunity to the State government from legal action. Clause 25 of the Bill states, “No suit, prosecution or other legal proceeding shall lie against the State government or any officer or authority of the State government for anything which is in good faith done or intended to be done in pursuance of this Act.”
  • The Gujarat Control of Terror-ism and Organised Crime Bill, 2015 also empowers police to tap phone conversations and use them as evidence in court, to extend the custody of an accused from the current 90 days to 180 days without filing a charge sheet.
2-” Muhammadu Buhari” Secures Election Victory In Nigeria by 2.7 Million Votes. Former military ruler Muhamammadu Buhari became the first Nigerian to defeat a sitting pesident through election. Buhari was declared the winner after he gained 2.7 million more votes than his rival, Goodluck Jonathan former President of Nigeria who is from “Peoples’s Democratic Party”.
3- “Daniel Vettori” New Zealand’s most-capped player Announces Retirement. New Zealand’s most capped left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori bid adieu to the international cricket by announcing that his 18-year international career was over Vettori has already retired from Tests and Twenty-Twenty cricket
  • He was the youngest player to represent New Zealand in Test Cricket.
  • He has played 113 test matches with a tally 362 wickets and 4531 runs.
  • He has played in 295 ODI and has a taken 305 wickets.
  • In the fourth season of Indian Premier League, he was contracted by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
4- India launches “Operation Rahat” to evacuate It’s citizens.
  • India on Tuesday night received permission to dock its vessel at the port of Aden to evacuate nearly 400 stranded Indians to Djibouti.
  • Two more ships, the destroyer INS Mumbai and the frigate INS Tarkash have set sail from India, and would reach the Yemen coast by April 2, and are equipped to deal with several contingencies.
  • UN says Yemen ‘on verge of total collapse’,the UN children’s fund said that at least 62 children had been killed and 30 injured during the fighting over the past week
